January 2006 Results

Alma Grey Texas Scramble, Sunday 29th and Tuesday 31st January 2006

Sixteen ladies played on Sunday and thirty one on Tuesday, with excellent scores on both days. The results were as follows:

Two Woods, Two Irons and a Putter, Tuesday 24th January 2006

Thirty two ladies braved the cold to compete in this competition. The temperature was -4 degrees at the start of the day, but the course gradually thawed out in the beautiful winter sunshine. The results were as follows:

Stableford and Harrington Salver, Sunday 22nd January 2006

Thirteen ladies took part in the Harrington Salver, which was won by Clare Preece on count back. The greedy competition was played over six predetermined holes and won by Jan Wright and Anne Fairweather.

January Medal and Margaret Ward Trophy, Sunday 8th and Tuesday 10th January 2006

The January Medal was played in conjunction with the Margaret Ward trophy. Thirty five ladies took part. The results were as follows:

Texas Scramble, Tuesday 3rd January 2006

This time we tried out the Tex Mex version of the scramble. In this variation whoever's ball you choose is not allowed to take the next shot so you never have the same person hitting two balls in a row. This makes it a much more interesting game as you don't necessarily take the best ball, but have to think about who is most likely to hit the next shot well. Teams of 3 played off a combined handicap of 1/6. The results were as follows:
