October 2005 Results

Curtis Cup, Tuesday 25th October 2005

This was an 'irons only' stableford competition, challenging for those of us who have been using woods all summer! The day started out with all twenty seven players prepared for rain but once again the wind cleared the clouds away and the competition was played in glorious sunshine - if a little windy on the back nine.

2nd  Glenys Prendergast  31 points ocb
 3rd  Kay Martin  31 points

Pat Hatch's Three Clubs and a Putter, Saturday 22nd October 2005

Saturday 22nd October saw fifteen of the seven day ladies take up the challenge of going round the course with just 3 clubs and a putter, with surprising results. We were pleased that Bette Humphries a past Lady Captain of 1997 joined in the fun with us. We were also extremely lucky with the weather, as it did start to drizzle prior to us setting off. Last year's winner Julie Tyrrell didn’t want to relinquish her title, so she excelled herself yet again this year, using a 5 and 7 iron and sand wedge. The greedy prize was shared between Gillian Konrad, Bette Humphries and Clare Preece. It just goes to show, if we can obtain fantastic scores with just 3 clubs, why do we carry the rest of the clubs?

 1st  Jule Tyrrell  42 points
 2nd  Pat Hatch  38 points
 3rd  Jan Wright  35 points
Best Front Nine  Bette Humphries  20 points
Best Back Nine  Clare Preece  18 points
