August 2005 Results

Stableford, Sunday 21st August 2005

Ten seven day ladies donned their suntan lotion, to play their monthly stableford in glorious sunshine. Lin Ives and Anne Fairweather were accosted by a snake on the 14th tee, but luckily this didn't put them off their game.

The results were as follows:

August Medal, Sunday 14th and Tuesday 16th August 2005

Thirty eight ladies took part in our August Medal. The weather was glorious on Tuesday although the Sunday ladies experienced a few showers during their round. We were delighted to welcome Margaret Neilson and Marion Patterson who played in their first competition with us.

Past Captains Lunch, Friday 12th August 2005

Friday 12th August saw the return of ten past Wexham Lady Captains in a fun round of golf and lunch. We missed Peggy Roe and Roisin Harrington who both had to cancel out at short notice but we were all very pleased to see Gill Lindsley joining in the event, coming third. Janine Prunty was the overall winner on countback from Lin Ives - dare we say a bit of rivalry there!

It was Heather Evans' birthday so we were glad she chose to spend the day with us.

Captain vs Vice Captain, Tuesday 9th August 2005

We had nearly 50 entrants for the Lady Captain versus Vice Captain competition. We were colour coordinated - even down to the satsumas and apples at the outset. Everyone joined in the fun and of course the best team won - Lady Captain, with Anne's team very close behind. It was a stunning day - perfect golfing weather and some great scores; we played 7/8ths of individual handicaps. All the winning team were given a little memento of the day - little goodie bags that Carol Grant had sent back for us from her holiday in the Far East. We rounded the day off with a very good light lunch.

Anne and Peter's Competition, Saturday 6th August 2005

Anne and Peter were members at Wexham and now live in Brussels, Belgium. Shortly before they left the UK, they kindly provided the seven day ladies with trophies to be played for in their competition. This competition was played off seven eighths handicap and a stableford format.

Jane's Flag Competition, Tuesday 2nd August 2005

41 ladies enjoyed a glorious sunny day to play Jane's Flag on Tuesday 2 August. There was a nailbiting finish with everything still to play for going up the first hole for the second time. Sue Carroll still had 2 shots, Sue Goodliffe 4 shots, with Wendy Marshall and Janine Prunty on 5 shots. Janine just pipped Wendy to the post by holing out on the first and received the Trophy presented by Jane King.
