Charity Day 2009

Presenting the cheque The Wexham Park golf club biennial charity day was held this year on Sunday 5th July 2009. Although funds are raised throughout the year, the major fundraising event is the Charity Golf Day.

The main beneficiary of this year's fund raising efforts was the Alexander Devine Children's Cancer Trust. The Trust's aim is to build and fund a children's hospice service in Berkshire. The photo shows a cheque for £1,000, for the money collected during the year, being presented to the charity at the golf day.

Golf Competitions

Winners This year the format for the golf was a four ball better ball stableford competition with tee times from 8am. Fifty teams of two entered the competition and there were also prizes for nearest the pin on each of the par 3 holes. For an additional entry fee, players could beat the pro on the 5th hole to win a sleeve of balls. On the 10th hole a brand new car could be won for a hole in one.

There were some very good scores and competition for prizes was fierce, with single points separating first, second and third and a count back for fourth place.

The Results were as follows:
1st  Mo Mitchell and Annette Brownsell  54 points
2nd  Nick Grimshaw and Roger Worsely  53 points
3rd  Pat and Clive Fullick  52 points
4th  Lesley Hunt and Luisa Meftah  51 points ocb

Nearest the Pin, 10th  Annette Brownsell

The winner of the putting qualified for the 'golden putt' which was a single 60 yard putt to win a set of clubs. Ian putted very close to the hole but not close enough to win the clubs.

Fundraising

There were a number of different fund raising activities that took place and a big thank you must go all the sponsors and others that donated prizes for the raffle and sealed bid auction.

And finally, thank you Chris, Dave and Steve for organising such a successful day and thank you too to their team of helpers.
