Ladies AGM, 8th November 2005
The Ladies Section AGM was held on Tuesday 8th November and attended by over 50 members. After a very successful year as Lady Captain, Sue Carroll stepped down and was presented with a bird table for her beloved doves. Sue has done a great job over the last year and will be a hard act to follow. Fortunately we have not just one, but two Captains to follow in her footsteps. Anne Leach and Carol Grant have taken over as Joint Captains.
Other appointments to the Committee include Sue Goodliffe as Vice Captain, Jackie Barton as Handicap Secretary, Sue Woodcock as Treasurer, Kathy Byrne as 7-day Secretary and Pat Fullick as 5-day Secretary. Pictures of the new Committee are displayed in the ladies cloakroom.
We would all like to thank the retiring Committee members for all their hard work. Jackie Taylor has looked after the finances as Treasurer for the last two years and worked tirelessly behind the scenes, Linda Sliwa has done a great job organising weekend competitions for several years, and we would all like to express a particular thanks to Caroline Moore who has been Handicap Secretary for seven years. In that time she has seen over two hundred new lady members attain their handicap. As past Captain Janine Prunty also stepped down from the Committee. Her advice over the past year has been much appreciated.
One of the last duties that the Captain performs is the prize giving for the major competitions of the year and this was also done at the AGM. These included the following:

Marbella Trip
There is only one place remaining on the trip to Spain in February. If you fancy 3 days of golf, fun and hopefully sun, put you name down quickly.
Turkey Trot
The notice is now on the board for the Turkey Trot on 13th December. This is open to all members with or without a handicap. It's a great fun competition played in fancy dress (optional) with our Christmas dinner in the evening (not in fancy dress) so get your name down quickly.
Winter Rules
Don't forget we are now playing winter rules so on the fairway you are able to mark your ball, pick it up clean it, and replace it within six inches NOT nearer the hole. (This may sound like teaching your Grandmother to suck eggs but we do have a lot of new Ladies).
Thank You from Sue Carroll
A note of thanks to all of you who have helped make my year such a success.
Issues have been addressed and clarified throughout the year to ensure that the Section runs fairly - not always smoothly - but fairly!
We have changed our accounting year end to December and AGM to coincide with both Management and Men's Section, this will make the working practices of the Section so much easier.
Thank you so much for the lovely bird table gift - it's just perfect. Also my thanks for all the touching comments written on my card.
I wish the Section all success under the leadership of Anne and Carol - they certainly have my support and I know they will have yours.
Very best wishes
SUE
