Turkey Trot
This year forty nine ladies took part in the Turkey Trot in a variety of Christmas fancy dress, including seven non handicappers. The first group went out at 8.44 and the last group teed off at around 11.00. We were so lucky with the weather which was mild for the time of year and dry. (Just as well when you're dressed as a fairy)! Golfers on the red course seemed amused at the sight of Santas, elves and fairies on the golf course. The prize for the best costume went to Sue Clarke for her Elf outfit, pictured with Colette in a very striking little red number and Sue as the fairy off the Christmas tree.
Later the Christmas dinner and prize giving were held at the clubhouse (dressed in more normal clothes). We all enjoyed a great meal and Anne managed to extract Paulo from the kitchen to thank him and the staff for all their hard work. Thank you to everyone who donated raffle prizes and those who bought raffle tickets. Also thanks to Rosemary Horridge for the table decorations.

Question of Rules
When can a ball be declared unplayable and what are the options when it is?
Answer at the end.
Welcome Back
Welcome back to our joint Captain Carol Grant, who has been away on an extended stay in Singapore for the last couple of months.
Buckinghamshire Open
The Ladies Christmas Open was held at the Buckinghamshire Golf Club on Monday 5th December.
The Wexham Ladies were out in force for this event with twelve of us entering.
The course was in great condition, especially the greens.
Unfortunately none of us won a prize but we all enjoyed the golf and carvery lunch afterwards.
The next Buckinghamshire Open will be in March and information about this will be in the cloakroom nearer the time.
Answer to Rules Question
A player may declare his ball unplayable at any place on the course except in a water hazard.
The player may under penalty of one stroke:
- Play a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played or;
- Drop a ball behind the point where the ball lay, keeping that point between the hole and the spot on which the ball is dropped, with no limit to how far behind that point the ball may be dropped; or
- Drop a ball within two club-lengths of the spot where the ball lay, but not nearer the hole.
If the unplayable ball is in a bunker, the player may proceed under Clause a, b or c.
If he elects to proceed under Clause b or c, the ball must be dropped in the bunker.
The ball may be lifted and cleaned when proceeding under this rule.
